Tottenham Hotspur team treat children’s ward to virtual festive surprise

Players from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club treated our children’s ward to a virtual festive surprise on Tuesday, 8 December.

Dele Alli, Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga held a video call with Dolphin Ward to bring a smile to their faces this festive season. This is in addition to kindly donating gifts to the ward.

Children, their families and staff had the chance to meet the players virtually and enjoy some Christmas cheer.

Japhet Tanganga, a defender for the club, said: “I think as role models it’s very nice for children in hospitals to see us in their time of need, especially when they might be scared or worried.

“We’ve surprised them with some gifts and hopefully they can be happier in the situation that they’re in and they can go home and spend Christmas together with their families.”

Janelle Gardner, head of nursing for children and services, said: “It was wonderful for children and our team to have the opportunity to virtually meet the Tottenham Hotspur players.

“We are so grateful to the club for thinking of us and bringing some festive spirit to our children’s ward.”

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
