Former players from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (THFC) - Ledley King, Ossie Ardiles and Gary Mabbutt – visited The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust last Friday (20 December) to meet staff, thank them for all they do to support patients year-round, and deliver gifts from THFC and other partners.

The gifts - that include sets from Molton Brown, chocolate treats from Cadbury’s, cans of Drip water and EXALT juices – will be shared among the various divisions within the trust to distribute as they see most appropriate to staff working over the festive season.

Thom Lafferty, chief executive at PAHT said: “Many of our staff take time away from their own families to care for people staying in hospital over the festive season and I would like to say a very big thank you to THFC for the generous gifts, to share with those that will be here working.”

Gary Mabutt said: “It was important for us as a Club to recognise the incredible work that heroic staff across our local hospitals are doing – not only during the Christmas period, but throughout the year. This was the Club’s way of saying a huge thank you to them and providing some respite from their extremely busy schedules.”

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
