Surgeon receives prestigious award in recognition of his teaching work
A surgeon at PAHT has received a prestigious award in recognition of his teaching work.
Mr Jehangir Mahaluxmivala, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, has been named the Trainer of the Year 2020 by the Royal London Rotation for Trauma and Orthopaedics. This is in recognition of his dedication to maintaining education and training standards during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Mahaluxmivala is now in the running for the British Orthopaedic Training Association’s National Trainer of the Year 2020. He has a distinguished reputation as an excellent trainer across the region, having won this award twice over the history of the Royal London Rotation for Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Mr Mahaluxmivala said: “I am delighted to have received this award – it is a real privilege to be recognised in this way.
“I am committed to supporting the professional development of surgeons and it is an honour to be acknowledged for that. However, this cannot be achieved without the drive and enthusiasm for training by all my orthopaedic consultant colleagues. The fantastic support by the surgical teams in theatre, outpatients and wards, along with the ethos of the hospital to drive forward high calibre training means I am privileged to be part of PAHT.”
Dr Fay Gilder, medical director at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, added: “This is an amazing achievement and is testament to how Jehangir inspires trainees and underlines the importance of his role in making PAHT a place where trainees want to come and learn.
