Graphic of a bike and iconic London landmarks

RideLondon, a cycling challenge that weaves its way past iconic landmarks in London and out into Essex, takes place this weekend on Sunday 28 May with road closures and diversions along major routes.

The route starts on the Victoria Embankment in central London, heading past the Olympic Park, through the London boroughs of Westminster, City of London, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forest before moving into Essex via Epping Forest.

Riders will then proceed through Epping, Ongar, Great Dunmow, Felsted and Writtle before heading back into London where it will finish at Tower Bridge.

If you need to travel to/from our hospitals on Sunday (28 May), please plan ahead in case you need to use alternative routes and allow extra time for your journey.

In previous years, the route was entirely closed to other traffic for the duration of the race, but this year, organisers have included managed crossing points as part of their preparations, meaning it will be possible to cross certain points of the route.

Please be advised that road closures are expected to be in place from 5am until 5pm.

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
