PAHT appoints new finance director

We have appointed a new finance director, Tom Burton.

Following a competitive selection process, Tom was selected as the new finance director for PAHT on 22 July, from his interim role at PAHT that he started on 30 May.

He was previously on a seconded role as the strategic planning director for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Before that he was previously operational director of finance for the regional NHS England and NHS Improvement team.

Tom began his career as a mechanical engineer, before becoming an accountant. He joined the NHS in 2009 from local government, where he qualified as a public sector accountant (CIPFA). His experience includes financial management roles at organisations including Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, Bart’s Health NHS Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Tom said: “I have found there to be a real sense of community working at PAHT and I admire the shared values and look forward to leading their financial services and finance team.

Lance McCarthy, chief executive of PAHT, said: “Tom brings a wide range of experience that will support us in our ambitions for our organisation, continuing to improve our services for our patients and our people.

“I am delighted that Tom is joining us as our new finance director.”

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
