Local hospital offers nursing apprenticeship degree opportunity

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAHT) in Harlow continues to work with Anglia Ruskin University to recruit onto the apprenticeship degree nurse training scheme. They are the first hospital in Essex to have adopted the training programme.

This four year scheme is a fantastic opportunity whereby students will undertake paid work as a clinical support worker, earn whilst they learn and gain valuable experience working within a busy hospital environment, whilst attending university.

On successful completion of their studies, they will become a registered nurse with a BSc (Hons) degree, fully funded by the hospital, meaning that the students will not have accrued university debt.

Sharon McNally, director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals said: “We are proud to offer the apprenticeship route into nursing in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.

“There are 12 places available for passionate aspiring nurses who want to work and learn at our hospital – this is a fantastic opportunity to help make a difference for local people and develop the skills to pursue a rewarding career in nursing.”

Applications will open on Tuesday 20 April 2021 and close on Monday 3 May 2021. To apply, visit the Government apprenticeship website and the TRAC jobs website.

Successful applicants will be invited to a virtual interview with representatives from Anglia Ruskin University and The Princess Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday 25 May 2021.

Applicants must be able to provide evidence that they have Maths and English qualifications that can be uploaded with their university application and evidence of level three learning. Any course must be completed prior to applying.

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
