Labour Ward refurbishment – what it means for you

On Monday, 22 March, essential refurbishment work began on our Labour Ward, to create a greatly improved environment for women, babies, their partners and chosen support people, and our staff.
Due to this, there will not be a birthing pool available on Labour Ward for the next six weeks, however women who are assessed as being low risk can access birthing pools on our midwife led birthing unit at The Princess Alexandra Hospital. The midwifery team will discuss this with you.
Additionally, the Labour Ward rooms will be moved to Chamberlen Ward at The Princess Alexandra Hospital – the service will remain the same, in a smaller location. Social distancing will be maintained at all times.
We would like to reassure you that the care provided will not change as a result of this.
If you have any questions, please contact the maternity matron for inpatient services, Sue Callaghan, by calling 01279 444455, extension 8703.
Thank you for your support.
