Is A&E the place for you to be?

It is important that our patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

If you do not have a serious or life-threatening illness or injury, please visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111 for advice about which service is best for your needs.

If you attend our emergency department (ED), you will be clinically assessed and may be asked to attend a service such as the Integrated Urgent Assessment and Treatment Centre at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, your own GP, out of hours GP services, or a pharmacy if appropriate.

You can only access GP urgent care via 111 or from our emergency department (ED). You cannot walk-in to the Integrated Urgent Assessment and Treatment Centre or out of hours GP services.

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
