Face mask guidance December 2024
We are seeing an increase in respiratory viruses such as flu across the hospital and local community.
Please do not attend any area of the hospital if you have symptoms of a respiratory virus. If you have an appointment, please telephone us using the number on your appointment confirmation to discuss further. If you are attending the hospital as an emergency, please wear a face mask.
For the latest guidance, and further information on flu symptoms, visit the NHS website here
Wearing face masks
Whilst it is not compulsory to wear a face mask, all patients (inpatients or outpatients), visitors and members of the public are recommended to wear face masks whilst visiting our wards, clinical areas and waiting rooms.
If you are visiting a patient with a suspected or confirmed respiratory infection, or are visiting a patient on a ward with a respiratory illness, we will ask you to wear a face mask.
Face masks
Face masks are available, free of charge, at all entrances to the hospital and on our wards.
Flu vaccine
The flu vaccine helps protect against flu, which can be a serious or life threatening illness. If you are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu, please contact your GP surgery or local pharmacy to receive a free flu vaccine. Flu vaccines are safe and effective and you can use this service to find a pharmacy that offers free flu vaccination.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
