Extended visiting hours in postnatal areas

Our maternity department visiting hours will be extended in postnatal areas from today (Wednesday 15 February).

One named support person will be able to visit their loved one any time between 8am-12pm midnight, seven days a week. Siblings are allowed to visit from 4-5pm, seven days a week.

Postnatal areas include Samson Ward, the postnatal area in the Birth Centre and the postnatal spaces on Chamberlen Ward.

The change has been introduced alongside our new visitors' charter that outlines a clear and consistent approach to how visitors can support friends or relatives, what is expected of them and how our people will also support. This will ensure that visiting arrangements are beneficial to everyone.

We are committed to continually improving our maternity services and providing safe, high quality care and experiences for women and birthing people.

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
