Dance the night away at hospital ball and help beat liver disease

It’s time to put on your dancing shoes and help to raise funds to support early diagnosis of liver disease for patients at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT).

The Liver Ball, organised by the gastroenterology department at PAHT, promises to be a spectacular dress to impress occasion with a three-course dining experience, disco, and complimentary drink on arrival. There will also be an auction, together with a range of raffle prizes to be won. It will be held at The Manor of Groves Hotel, Sawbridgeworth, (CM21 0JU) on Saturday 17 May 2025; tickets cost £75 per person.

The fantastic prizes include an overnight stay at The Manor of Groves Hotel with a breakfast, a professional photoshoot with a local photographer, an afternoon tea for two, hair and beauty voucher, and much more.

The appeal has been led by Dr Deb Ghosh, consultant gastroenterologist, to raise £100,000 for a specialist piece of equipment called a Fibroscanner. The Fibroscanner would enable a fast, painless and non-invasive examination of the patient’s liver, helping clinicians to detect liver disease and related conditions quickly at the bedside. This would allow the team to start intensive monitoring and support if required.

Dr Ghosh said: “We are very excited to launch the sale of tickets for our Liver Ball, and begin our appeal to raise vital funds needed for this piece of specialist equipment, that will transform the care we can provide to patients with liver disease and related conditions.

“Diagnosis is the first step and the Fibroscanner would help us to ensure that our patients have the best outcomes possible in their treatment.

“Thank you in advance to everyone for their support.”

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
