DAISY Award® winner for April 2025 announced at local hospital

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has announced the winner of its DAISY Awards® programme for April 2025.
The programme enables patients, families, and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care and to shine a spotlight on those who go the extra mile to ensure patients receive high-quality care and experiences.
For April, the DAISY Award® has been presented to Ruth Goddard from Harlow, a nurse in the Further Assessment Unit (FAU) and Emergency Department (ED) at PAHT.
Ruth was nominated by a colleague for the way in which she consistently goes above and beyond to support all her patients and colleagues alike. They commented that no matter the situation, she is always available to offer advice and support; and always prioritises the safety and delivery of outstanding care for her patients.
This week is ‘This is Us Week’ at PAHT (23 to 27 June) with a full programme of events and activities to recognise, develop, support and celebrate all the people working at the Trust.
Ruth was surprised with her DAISY Award® certificate, a beautiful hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, a pin badge, a copy of the full nomination, a gift bag and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the award – at a special ceremony as part of the This is Us Week celebrations, by Sharon McNally, chief nurse and deputy chief executive at PAHT.
Speaking at the presentation, Sharon said: “The nomination clearly demonstrates Ruth’s dedication and commitment to putting the patient at the heart of all she does; and the support and compassion she shows to her peers too.
“Thank you, Ruth, for all you do to support patients in your care, and your colleagues too.”
DAISY Award® winners also receive access to numerous professional development, education and wellness benefits as part of the programme.
