DAISY Award winner announced for September 2024
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has announced the winner of its DAISY Awards® programme for September 2024.
The programme enables patients, families and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care. The aim is to shine the spotlight on nurses and midwives who go the extra mile to ensure patients at PAHT receive high quality care and experiences.
The winner for September 2024 is Alison Boggas, from Sawbridgeworth, a registered nurse from Ray Ward. Alison was nominated by a colleague for the outstanding care she gave to a young patient who was extremely unwell and preparing for the end of their life.
Giuseppe Labriola, interim chief nurse, visited Alison whilst she was at work last week (8 November) and surprised her with the DAISY Award which includes a DAISY Award® certificate, a beautiful hand carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, a pin badge, copy of the full nomination, a gift bag and cinnamon rolls.
Giuseppe said: “This nomination, which was made by one of Alison’s colleagues, is testament to the dedication and commitment she gives to her patients.
“Ensuring every person receives the compassion, comfort and companionship they could wish for at the end of their life is important to us as an organisation and I am delighted that Alison’s commitment has been recognised through the DAISY Awards.
“Congratulations Alison, and a very big thank you for all you do to help support our patients here at PAHT.”
DAISY Award® winners are also entitled to numerous professional development, education and wellness benefits.
