DAISY Award® winner announced for August 2024

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has announced the winner of its DAISY Awards® programme for August 2024.
The programme enables patients, families and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care. The aim is to shine the spotlight on nurses and midwives who go the extra mile to ensure patients at PAHT receive high quality care and experiences.
The winner for August 2024 is Steven Hart, from Harlow, a charge nurse in the emergency department. Steven was nominated for going above and beyond to help support all of his patients, but in particular, those at end of life in his care; treating them, and their family and loved ones, with compassion and dignity at what is an extremely difficult and emotional situation.
Giuseppe Labriola, interim chief nurse, surprised Steven in the emergency department yesterday (Wednesday 9 October) to let him know the news and to present him with his DAISY Award® certificate, a beautiful hand carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, a pin badge, copy of the full nomination, a gift bag and cinnamon rolls.
Giuseppe said: “Steven’s nomination clearly demonstrates how he puts the patient at the heart of all he does; going above and beyond to support patients and their families in extremely emotional and difficult circumstances. A very heartfelt thank you to Steven, and all of his colleagues in the emergency department, for all they do day in and day out for our patients.“
DAISY Award® winners are also entitled to numerous professional development, education and wellness benefits.
