Community rally to raise more than £8,500 in a week to support local hospital charity in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19)
In just one week, the community has rallied to raise more than £8,500 to support The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Princess Alexandra Hospitals Charity launched its dedicated coronavirus (COVID-19) charity appeal last week, and has already seen £8,583 donated by 39 supporters.
The teams at the hospital are extremely grateful and delighted by this hugely generous outpouring of support for its amazing people who are working so hard to deliver outstanding care and to keep people safe.
During these unprecedented times in the fight against COVID-19, the help and support of patients, visitors, family and friends is crucial. The hospital has received many gifts to share with its people, which have been really well received. The teams at the hospital have also been asked by many if they can make a donation.
In response to these requests, the hospital’s charity created a JustGiving page, as a simple and fast way to donate. The community are encouraged to please continue to support their local hospital via this page.

John Keddie, non-executive director at PAHT, chairs The Princess Alexandra Hospitals’ Charity.
He said: “We are extremely grateful for the kind donations we have received to support our amazing people so far.
“All donations to the PAHT charity are used to directly enhance the experience and wellbeing of our patients and staff, and all funds raised go directly to the hospital.
“We would like to thank everyone for thinking about our teams and the patients we care for at this difficult time.”
Ogechi Emeadi, director of people, organisational development and communications, said: “It means a great deal to our people across the hospital to see how their work in the fight against COVID-19 has been recognised by the community.
“Every day, we have received so many kind messages for our staff, together with gifts and donations from those looking to help their local hospital.
