Arrangements for a bank holiday for the Queen's State Funeral

As you will be aware, a bank holiday for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral will take place on Monday (19 September).

In line with normal arrangements for a bank holiday, routine appointments and procedures will be postponed. All patients will receive direct communication from our teams, confirming and keeping you updated with new arrangements.

Urgent appointments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and the team will liaise with you directly about plans.

Please note that our emergency department (ED) and maternity services, and services for our inpatients, will continue as normal.

The chaplaincy team have set up an area in the sanctuary for you to light a candle or leave a message of condolence. All messages will be collated at the end of the period of national mourning and included in a memorial book. The official Royal Family's book of condolence is also online if you would like to send a message.

You are welcome to bring your own devices (e.g. tablets) to watch the funeral proceedings, however please note that this is at your own risk.

Thank you for your support.

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
