Aircrew fly in to provide first class service to local hospital staff

Project Wingman is in full flight at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) as aircrew support its hard-working staff.
The initiative offers a first class service for hospital staff during the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).
Stansted Airport aircrew have volunteered to serve refreshments in designated ‘first class’ lounge areas, have conversations and give staff a chance to unwind before, during or after a shift.
Ogechi Emeadi, director of people, organisational development and communications at PAHT said: “We are so thankful to the aircrew for providing this brilliant service. It’s great to see fellow professionals working together and supporting each other during these unprecedented times.
“It means so much to our people to have a comforting space to take time out and pause; the initiative has been very well received so far and has been a huge morale boost.
“We are doing all that we can to support the health and wellbeing of our people and encouraging them to attend the ‘first class’ lounge area when possible.”
Emma Henderson, co-founder of project wingman said: “As many of our pilots and cabin crew are currently grounded or on a reduced duties due to coronavirus, we wanted to focus our efforts on giving back to the NHS heroes who are working tirelessly during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’re so pleased to be able to offer the Project Wingman service at The Princess Alexandra Hospital; it’s very rewarding to see that the relaxing space is making a difference to the hard-working teams.”
