A welcome message from Lance McCarthy, chief executive

Hello,

I am delighted to welcome you to the team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT).

You join us at an exciting time as we embark on our journey towards our new hospital, modernising and transforming our services, and introducing many new health and wellbeing initiatives.

Our induction programme will support you to settle into your new role and help you to become familiar with your new environment – we hope that you find the programme enjoyable and informative.

To enhance your induction experience further, we have recently introduced a new starter forum, which is an opportunity to network with your fellow new starter colleagues, for us to learn more about who you are and your personality, meet our trust board, and find out more about our departments across PAHT and how they support our values.

Our clear set of values, patient at hearteveryday excellence and creative collaboration, support us to deliver the best care and experiences for our patients and people. Please ensure that you uphold our values and behaviours in everything that you do here at PAHT.

Your feedback is extremely important to us, and as a fresh pair of eyes, you may see things that you think would benefit from change, or note how we can improve things further. Please share your feedback with your line manager, or with our executive team, to see how we can put your ideas into action.

We have a wealth of opportunities for you to develop and we encourage you to do so. You can look at our learning, education and development opportunities on AlexNet (our staff website) or discuss your personal career objectives with your line manager.

Once you have fully completed the onboarding process and joined PAHT, please keep up to date with the latest news from across PAHT by reading our regular messages shared via our communications team, including all user messages, AlexNet, InTouch weekly, InTouch magazine, our proudest moments briefing, by watching my fortnightly digital diary and attending the executive team briefing every Tuesday at 8:30am via Microsoft Teams.

You can also get involved by sharing your experience of joining PAHT on social media, using the hashtags #ISaidYesToPAHT, #NHSHarlow and #JoiningPAHTPeople. Our social media channels are listed below:

I look forward to working with you and achieving excellence and our goals, together.

Best wishes

Lance McCarthy

Inpatient comment:

Everyone offered words of such reassurance and kindness. I felt so cared for and the communication with me at all times was fantastic.
