We have launched a new webpage to help patients, families and visitors see the latest waiting times for our urgent and emergency care services.
We have created the page to make information about current demand more visible and accessible, so people can better understand how busy our services are before they arrive. It is designed to support informed choices, help set expectations, and provide reassurance. Patients will continue to be seen in order of clinical need, with those who are most seriously ill or injured seen first. Patients with life-threatening conditions will be seen immediately.
The webpage shows the number of patients currently in our Adult Emergency Department, Children’s Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care, as well as the current longest waiting times to be seen by a triage nurse or doctor where relevant. The information updates every five minutes, giving a clearer and more up-to-date picture of waiting times across our urgent and emergency care services.
Our urgent and emergency care services remain very busy. Anyone with a serious or life-threatening illness or injury should continue to attend the Emergency Department or call 999. If it is not an emergency, please help us to help you by using the most appropriate NHS service for your needs, including NHS 111 online, your GP practice, pharmacy, or local urgent treatment services.
When using our services, please treat our people with respect and kindness. Our teams are working hard to care for every patient safely, with those in greatest clinical need seen first.
