Families, care givers and older people across the local community are being invited to a new ‘Supporting Healthy Ageing’ conference, taking place at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception (Church Hall, 11 Church Hill, Epping Essex, CM16 4RA) on Wednesday 21 October, from 6pm to 8pm.
The event, organised by clinicians, the Patient Panel and volunteers at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT), aims to provide practical education, advice and support around healthy ageing, wellbeing and early intervention, helping people take proactive steps to manage their health and maintain their independence.
By giving people the knowledge and confidence to recognise concerns early and understand what support is available, the conference aims to help prevent health crises, improve quality of life and reduce avoidable and repeat admission to hospital.
The event also supports the ambition of the NHS to move care closer to home, with a greater focus on prevention and helping people live healthier, more independent lives.
It aligns closely with PAHT’s strategy, by supporting:
- Hope – giving people the knowledge and confidence to proactively manage their health and wellbeing.
- Community – strengthening partnerships with families, carers, voluntary organisations and local services/partners to support healthy ageing closer to home.
- Standards – providing high-quality, evidence-based information to support better health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

PAHT has also launched a new community-focused YouTube channel, Together for Better Health – PAHT, providing the local community, care givers and the wider public with accessible, trusted health information.
The channel will feature a growing collection of informative videos covering a range of health topics, including medicines safety, healthy living, managing long-term conditions and seasonal health advice, with further content to be added over time.
The channel aims to make reliable health information easier to access and share, supporting local people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Families, care givers, colleagues and members of the local community are encouraged to visit and subscribe to the channel and share it with others where appropriate: Together for Better Health – PAHT
