The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is delighted to announce that Emily Appiah, Registered Nurse on Harvey Ward, has been awarded the DAISY Award for July 2026.
Emily, from Harlow, was nominated by the relative of a patient for providing exceptional nursing care, combining outstanding professionalism with genuine compassion, kindness and emotional support that made a significant difference to the patient’s recovery and overall hospital experience.
The DAISY Award programme enables patients, families, and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care and have gone the extra mile to ensure patients receive high-quality care and experiences.
Emily was surprised at work this week when Jo Ward, Interim Chief Nursing Officer presented her with the DAISY Award® certificate, hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, pin badge, copy of the nomination, gift bag and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the award.
Jo said: “This nomination is a wonderful testament to Emily’s professionalism, kindness and dedication to her role, that clearly made a profound difference to both the patient and their family during a challenging time.
“On behalf of the Trust, I would like to thank Emily for embodying our values so beautifully and for the outstanding contribution she makes to patient care.”
