The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is delighted to announce Jovi Espinosa, Registered Nurse on Penn Ward, as the winner of its DAISY Award® for August 2026.
The DAISY Award® programme gives patients, families, and colleagues the opportunity to honour nurses and midwives who go above and beyond to deliver high-quality care and make a lasting difference to people’s experiences.
Jovi, from Harlow, was nominated by a patient in recognition of the exceptional care, compassion and professionalism she demonstrated throughout their stay in hospital. Her warm and caring approach made a meaningful difference to the patient’s recovery and left a lasting impression on both the patient and their family.
Jo Ward, Interim Chief Nursing Officer at PAHT, surprised Jovi at work this week and presented her with the award. Alongside acertificate, pin badge, gift bag and copy of her nomination, Jovi received a hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the DAISY Award®.
Jo said: “The compassion, empathy and professionalism reflected in this nomination demonstrate the very best of nursing. It’s clear that Jovi made a significant difference to her patient’s experience during what was a difficult time.
“As a Trust, we are incredibly proud of colleagues like Jovi, who go above and beyond every day to provide outstanding care. I was delighted to present her with the DAISY Award® and see her dedication recognised in this way.”
