The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is delighted to announce that Faye Rix, Registered Nurse on Dolphin Ward, is the DAISY Award winner for April 2026.
Faye, from Harlow, was nominated by a family for the extraordinary compassion she showed them following their child’s cancer diagnosis. They wanted her to be recognised for the exceptional emotional support she gave them during an extremely overwhelming time. Her kindness and reassurance gave them the strength to face the path ahead and they will be eternally grateful for the profound difference she made during an incredibly difficult chapter in their lives.
The DAISY Award programme enables patients, families, and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care and have gone the extra mile to ensure patients receive high-quality care and experiences.
Jo Ward Chief Nursing Officer (Interim) surprised Faye at work recently where she presented her with the DAISY Award® certificate, hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, pin badge, copy of the nomination, gift bag and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the award.
Commenting on the nomination Jo said: “During an unimaginably difficult time for a family, Faye provided not only exceptional clinical care, but also emotional strength, clarity and reassurance. Her calm presence, kindness and ability to make a frightened child feel safe made a profound difference; supporting the whole family with empathy and dignity, demonstrating the very best of nursing and why she has been chosen as the DAISY Award winner for April.”
DAISY Award® winners also receive access to professional development, education and wellness benefits as part of the programme.
