Our endoscopy team provide a range of high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and bronchoscopy.

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure to examine the inside of a patient and allows our medical team to make a diagnosis and form a treatment plan. We examine the digestive tract and respiratory tract through an endoscope, a flexible viewing tube with a light and camera attached, this can be through:

  • The mouth into the stomach (Gastroscopy)
  • The anus into the large bowel (Colonoscopy or Flexible Sigmoidoscopy)
  • The mouth into the lungs (Bronchoscopy)
  • The mouth into the stomach, then bile duct (ERCP; Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography)

Endoscopy is also used for the removal of polyps, small gallstones and insertion of feeding tubes.

We are a JAG Accredited Endoscopy Unit. This is awarded to high quality gastrointestinal endoscopy services.
