The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has announced the winner of its DAISY Awards® programme for January 2026.
The programme enables patients, families, and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care and have gone the extra mile to ensure patients receive high-quality care and experiences.
The January 2026 DAISY Award® was presented to Carrie Cole, from Bishop’s Stortford, Sister on Henry Moore Ward.
Carrie was nominated by the wife of a patient for the compassionate care she showed, not to just to them as a family, but to all her patients on the ward. The nomination highlighted that her calm and reassuring nature enabled them as a family to maintain their composure at what was an extremely upsetting time.
Jo Ward, Interim Chief Nurse, surprised Carrie at work yesterday (26 February), where she presented her with her DAISY Award® certificate, hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, pin badge, copy of her nomination, gift bag and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the award.
Jo said: “For someone to take the time to make this nomination at a most unsettling time for them speaks volumes.
“On behalf of the Trust I would like to say a very big thank you to Carrie for all she does, going above and beyond, to support both patients in her care, and their loved ones.”
DAISY Award® winners also receive access to professional development, education and wellness benefits as part of the programme.
