The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has announced the winner of its DAISY Awards® programme for June 2025.
The programme enables patients, families, and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care and to shine a spotlight on those who go the extra mile to ensure patients receive high-quality care and experiences.
For June, the DAISY Award® has been presented to Nikitha Johny, from Harlow, a registered nurse on Winter Ward at PAHT.
Nikitha was nominated by the relative of a patient for the meticulous and exemplary care she gave to a patient being discharged to a care home. They commented that her dedication, quick thinking and ability to manage a complex situation made a real difference, and that she is a true credit to the team.
Giuseppe Labriola, deputy chief nurse, surprised Nikitha at work yesterday (10 September), presenting her with her DAISY Award® certificate, a beautiful hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, a pin badge, a copy of the full nomination, a gift bag and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the award.
Sharon McNally, chief nurse and deputy chief executive said: “This nomination clearly demonstrates how Nikitha puts her patients at the heart of all she does, supporting the relatives too. A very heartfelt thank you for all you do to support patients and their relatives in your care.”
DAISY Award® winners also receive access to numerous professional development, education and wellness benefits as part of the programme.
