Our award-winning Patient Panel, who support our patients and our people across our hospitals, recently celebrated their 10th anniversary with a reception and special cake.
The event, which was held at Kao Park in Harlow, began with a special video tribute to the panel’s chair, Ann Nutt, and their outstanding work across the last decade, followed by a speech from Diane Deane-Bowers, vice chair of the Patient Panel.
Jim McLeish, director of quality improvement at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT), also reflected on the achievements and role of the Patient Panel. Andrew Johnson, chair of Harlow Council, discussed the importance of the partnership between the hospital, the council and the Patient Panel.
A buffet followed the speeches, complete with one of the Panel’s signature cakes to celebrate the occasion.
Jim McLeish said: “We are proud that the Patient Panel has been acknowledged as ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and that they were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020 in recognition of their contributions.
“It was fantastic to take part in this special event – thank you to our Patient Panel members.”
Councillor Andrew Johnson, Chair of Harlow Council, said: “It was a real pleasure to attend and speak at the Patient Panel event and talk about the importance of working together.
“The Patient Panel has such an important role in supporting patients and people across the Trust’s hospitals and it’s only right that we should celebrate its achievements over the last decade. A big well done and thank you to everyone who has been involved.”
Ann Nutt, chair of the Patient Panel, added: “We are looking forward enthusiastically to the next decade, supporting patients and people at PAHT. Thank you to everyone who joined our celebrations.”
