
Our Dietetic Department is made up of a team of specialist dietitians, a nutrition nurse practitioner, dietetic assistants and administrators. They are also part of the wider nutrition multidisciplinary team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) consisting of gastroenterologists, pharmacists and speech and language therapists.
Dietitians are qualified, registered (The Health and Care Professions Council) and regulated health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutrition related problems at an individual and wider public health level. They use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease to help treat and enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices.
They provide support to:
- General inpatient wards and more specialist areas such as: Respiratory, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Surgery, Urgent and Critical Care and Diabetes
- Enterally tube fed and parenteral nutrition patients
- Outpatient Services including: General Outpatients, Gastroenterology, Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology and Diabetes
- Paediatric Inpatient and Outpatient Services
