Introduction
This guide will answer your questions about your hearing aid fitting appointment.
What is a Re-assessment appointment?
This appointment is to fit your hearing aid(s) to your prescription with the Audiology team.

Please check your appointment letter for this information.
Where do you provide appointments?
We provide appointments at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow (repairs and fittings only, not assessments), St. Margaret’s Hospital in Epping and Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford.
When should I arrive?
Please arrive at the time stated in your appointment letter and no more than 10 mins ahead of this.
How long will it take?
Fittings usually last between 30 and 60 minutes.
The day of the appointment: Who will I see?
You will see an Audiologist or a Student Audiologist. Audiologists are Healthcare Scientists, not Doctors.
What are the likely outcomes?
Your hearing aid(s) will be fit to your prescription based on your hearing test results. We will show you how to use the hearing aid(s), how to clean and maintain your hearing aid(s) and where to obtain batteries.
Can I bring someone with me?
You are welcome to bring someone to support you to your appointment.
Can I drive after my procedure?
You can drive as normal. Sometimes it can be worth doing a few laps around the car park ahead of leaving so you are aware of the new sounds of your hearing aids.
