From Wednesday 6 August, the children’s (paediatric) emergency department (ED) will be temporarily relocated to a new space to allow for essential refurbishment work.
The children’s ED will move into the area currently used as the discharge lounge. Due to the reduced space, we kindly ask that only one parent/caregiver attends the department to avoid overcrowding.
To prepare for this, the discharge lounge will move to the newly refurbished Further Assessment Unit (FAU)/Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) area from today (30 July).
These changes are expected to last for approximately six months until the refurbished children’s ED reopens.
During this time, we will continue to provide the same high standards of care and support for all patients.
The routes will be clearly signposted, and staff will be available to help guide you to the right place. Please also refer to the map below for more information.
If you have any questions, please speak to a member of staff.
Thank you for your understanding and patience while we improve our facilities.
