The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that resident doctors are planning to take continuous industrial action from 7am on Tuesday 7 April to 7am Monday 13 April.
Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our patients. We are working carefully to minimise disruption to our services during this time. However, with fewer doctors available than usual, we will need to make temporary adjustments to how our services are delivered in order to maintain safe, high-quality care.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Some appointments, procedures and operations may be need to be postponed or rearranged. Any changes will be made with clinical priority in mind, and rescheduled as soon as possible.
You will be contacted if your appointment is affected. If you do not hear from us, please attend as planned. We kindly ask that you avoid calling the booking line unless absolutely necessary, as we anticipate a high volume of calls. - Patients attending the Emergency Department with less urgent care needs may experience longer waiting times. As always, patients will be seen based on clinical priority.
- The Emergency Department should be used for serious or life-threatening illnesses or injuries only. For non-urgent health needs, please contact your pharmacist, GP or NHS 111.
- If your health need is serious or life-threatening, please continue to contact 999 or attend the Emergency Department (ED).
- Maternity services and critical care services for inpatients will continue to be available during this period.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
