Young people on the children’s ward (Dolphin Ward) at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) in Harlow got a very big surprise yesterday (18 December) when James Maddison, Archie Gray and Brandon Austin from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (THFC) made a surprise visit to deliver early Christmas presents from THFC.
James Maddison said: “It’s always nice to have that moment with the kids and their parents, especially at this time of year, and to be able to lift their day.”
Helen Weaving, Paediatric Interim Matron at PAHT, said: “Being in hospital at any time of year can be very hard, and more so at Christmas. The surprise visit by players from Tottenham Hotspur generated a lot of excitement and it was an absolute joy to see some of our patients’ spirits lifted when they found out they were going to be part of it. Our staff, the parents and carers were overjoyed too.”
Thom Lafferty, Chief Executive said: “We are so immensely grateful to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and the players for making this surprise visit to the young people on Dolphin Ward. It was a very welcome surprise and most certainly boosted the spirits of everyone on the ward.”
