The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is reaching out to the local community to ask for their invaluable support.
The voluntary services team at PAHT is looking for health and beauty professionals to volunteer to provide services that will help to enhance patient experiences whilst staying in hospital.
Phillipa Haslehurst, voluntary services manager at PAHT, said: “We are committed to putting our patients at the heart of everything that we do.
“We know that staying in hospital can be a worrying time for many of our patients and volunteers play a crucial role in helping them throughout this time.
“We are currently looking for a qualified hairdresser and barbers with experience of cutting and styling, beauty therapists, and chiropodists, who can provide much needed respite and pampering on a voluntary basis.
“It’s important that you are able to relate and respond to people well, are able to understand the needs of others and are enthusiastic about making a difference.”
Volunteers will ideally be able to give up three to four hours a month, or more if they have the time, from Monday-Sunday, 8am-6pm.
Appropriate training and statutory checks will be followed before volunteers can begin providing services at the hospital.

What services are you looking for?
We are currently looking for qualified hairdressers and barbers with experience of cutting and styling, beauty therapists, and chiropodists.
If you have any other services that you can volunteer to provide, that you think would be beneficial to our patients, please get in touch.
Where will I volunteer?
You will mainly offer your services to patients who are staying in our ward areas. The ward that you visit may change on each occasion.
How often will I need to volunteer?
You can volunteer as often or as little as you like, we are grateful for any time that you can give.
Ideally, you will be able to give up three to four hours a month, or more if you have the time, from Monday-Sunday, 8am-6pm.
What support will I receive?
We can offer you statutory mandatory training and guidance about providing services to all of our patients, including those who have a learning disability, or people who are living with dementia.
What checks will I need to have before entering the hospital?
Our voluntary services team will ensure that your disclosure and barring service (DBS), occupational health checks, and other relevant checks are completed before visiting the hospital.
