The IT team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) have been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award.
The Leading Lights awards programme, now in its 20th year, recognises outstanding achievement in telecommunications technology, services, strategies and innovations.
The team have been shortlisted alongside their mobile connectivity partner, Freshwave, in the Outstanding Use Case: Radio Access Network Deployment category. The category recognises organisations with an outstanding example of a successful network deployment, using a service provider network.
Jeff Wood, deputy director of IT at PAHT, said: “We are proud to have been recognised for this project with our partner, Freshwave.
“Freshwave designed and deployed a 4G network system that is connected to four UK mobile network operators across 15 separate buildings at the main hospital site. This means that we have enhanced mobile connectivity and a back-up solution if the Wi-Fi connection is disrupted for any reason.
“Reliable mobile connectivity is essential to ensure operational resilience and delivery and to ensure that our people, patients and visitors can continue to use their mobile devices at all times.”
Phil Holland, chief information officer at PAHT, said: “Well done to all involved with this project. The IT team work incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure that our people can continue to work effectively and efficiently without any connectivity disruptions, and to ultimately enhance patient experiences.
