Paralympian, Anne Wafula Strike MBE, who is an associate non-executive director on the board of PAHT, has been included in The Essex Life 50 most influential people list.
Anne was recognised for being the first wheelchair racer from Sub-Saharan Africa to compete in the Paralympics in Athens in 2004, joining Team GB in 2006 where she continued to enjoy an inspiring sporting career. Anne was awarded an MBE in 2014 for her services to disability sport and charity work.
This year, Anne was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Essex in their summer graduations in recognition of her achievements.
Other notable people included by Essex Life are renowned actresses Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Maggie Smith, together with musician Sir Rod Stewart.
Anne said: “I am humbled and honoured to be included in the 50 most influential people list.
“I am proud of my connection to Essex and it is great to reflect on the achievements of our community.”
