The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) has announced the winner of its DAISY Awards® programme for August 2025.
The programme enables patients, families, and colleagues to honour a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to their care and to shine a spotlight on those who go the extra mile to ensure patients receive high-quality care and experiences.
For August, the DAISY Award® has been presented to Joscelyn Sequeria, from Harlow, a registered nurse on the Williams Day Unit at PAHT.Joscelyn’s nomination was from the mother of a patient she helped looked after during treatment for cancer; and by a patient who cannot thank her enough for being there at what have been extremely difficult times. Both nominations reflected on the compassionate support given and how they have been touched by her kindness, calm and professional approach.
Jo Ward, Interim Chief Nurse, surprised Joscelyn at work today (Friday 7 November) presenting her with the DAISY Award® certificate, a beautiful hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, a pin badge, a copy of the full nomination, a gift bag and cinnamon rolls – a meaningful tradition of the award.
Jo said: “To know that people going through cancer treatments, at what must be an extremely difficult time, have taken the time to submit these nominations for Joscelyn speaks volumes. She clearly puts not just her patients, but their support network too, at the heart of all she does, maintaining professional composure whilst supporting them on their journey. I am very proud to honour her with this DAISY Award today, a small token of recognition for the very large part she plays to support patients with cancer in her care.”
DAISY Award® winners also receive access to numerous professional development, education and wellness benefits as part of the programme.
