The Alex Health communications team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is shortlisted for a prestigious CommsHero Award in the Best Internal Comms Campaign category.
The nomination recognises the outstanding work of Jill Hogan and Becky Gill on the Alex Health communications and engagement campaign, which played a pivotal role in the successful rollout of Alex Health, the trust’s new electronic health record (EHR).
This was the largest transformation project in PAHT’s history and marked the fastest Oracle Health Cerner Millennium EHR implementation in any UK trust.
The communications campaign went far beyond simply sharing information – it inspired staff to feel fully prepared and excited for this people-led transformation. Through creative initiatives, including ‘First Look Fridays’ teaser sessions, yellow t-shirt floorwalking, team briefings, email bulletins, and eye-catching graphics, the strategy helped staff understand how Alex Health would improve their work and enhance patient care.
Oracle Health (the EHR provider) has recognised the campaign as a best practice example of internal communications, and this CommsHero Award shortlisting is further proof of its success.
The campaign was a creative collaboration between the Alex Health communications team and wider teams across the trust, including transformation, nursing, clinical, and programme team, alongside hundreds of staff who volunteered as navigators and ambassadors. This trust-wide effort was pivotal to the success of the campaign and ensuring staff were fully trained and prepared for go-live and beyond.
Thom Lafferty, chief executive at PAHT, said: “This recognition is thoroughly deserved and a testament to Jill and Becky’s creativity, dedication, and passion for communications. Their work played a vital role in preparing our teams for the Alex Health rollout and ensuring everyone understood the positive impact on both staff and patients. We are incredibly proud of them.”
The winners of the CommsHero Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester later this year.
