Gift in your will

Making a gift in your will is a powerful way to leave a legacy, provide for loved ones and support causes that matter to you. When you write a gift into your will for The Princess Alexandra Hospital Charity, you’re saying a forever thank you that will help us go above and beyond for patients and our people. No matter how small or how large your gift, you can be sure it will make a difference to our work. 

  • Should you decide to support The Princess Alexandra Hospital in this way, you must first decide on what type of gift you would like to leave – a pecuniary bequest (a fixed sum of money) or a residuary bequest (a percentage of your estate). We advise that you consult a solicitor on what is best for your circumstances
  • We recommend that you use a solicitor to draft your will to ensure that the wording of your will meets your wishes. A properly drafted will ensures that your wishes will be honoured
  • We are often asked if gifts can be used to fund certain work or purchase a particular piece of equipment. We endeavour to abide by our supporters’ wishes, but please remember that by the time your will becomes effective, the healthcare landscape may well have changed in terms of equipment and treatments. We would therefore request that you donate to a specific fund as opposed to a specific purpose, so your donation is used in the best possible way

Remember a loved one

Donating in memory of someone special is a wonderful way to remember and honour their life. Many people invite friends and family to donate to charity instead of sending flowers or include a collection during the service. Your funeral director will usually arrange the collection on your behalf and will make sure donations are forwarded to us. If you wish for donations to benefit a particular ward or unit, please make this known to the funeral director.

Set up a tribute page

A MuchLoved tribute page is a lasting online memorial for family and friends to remember and celebrate a loved one by sharing stories and photos and raising funds in their memory. Many families choose to share details of their tribute page with friends and family via social media, obituary notices and in the order of service at the funeral. You can add to a tribute fund at any time. Some supporters choose to remember their loved one year after year on special dates like birthdays and anniversaries. We are always incredibly grateful if you can give a charitable donation, such as goods, services or expertise.  If you would like to make a gift in kind, please contact us. Unfortunately, there are a few items that we are unable to accept, such as food without all ingredients and allergens on labels, second hand toys or knitted items, DVDs or books.
