The Princess Alexandra Hospital – until 26 April 2026
Any appointment booked at The Princess Alexandra Hospital main site (Hamstel Road, Harlow, CM20 1QX) until 26 April 2026 should be attended at The Old Therapies Gym, Ground Floor (Blue Zone).

Locations from 27 April 2026
Blood tests will be provided from new facilities from 27 April 2026 and should be attended at:

  • Harvey Centre Blood Clinic: Unit 77-76, The Harvey Centre, Harlow, CM20 1AP (first floor, opposite Cineworld).

    Unplanned, urgent blood tests required by the outpatient team on the day of a patient appointment will be taken in the department to avoid asking patients to make the journey to The Harvey Centre.
  • Blood Clinic for children under ones: Gibberd Ward, Building 6, The Princess Alexandra Hospital (main site).
  • Specialist Blood Clinic: Radiology Department, Ground Floor, The Princess Alexandra Hospital (the clinician requesting your blood test will advise if you require this service).

All other Blood Clinics will continue to be delivered from:

  • Phlebotomy Clinic: St Margaret’s Hospital, The Plain, Epping, CM16 6TN.
  • Phlebotomy Clinic: Herts and Essex Community Hospital, Haymeads Lane, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 5JH.
  • Waltham Abbey Health Centre: Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey, EN9 1NP.
  • Ongar Health Centre: Ongar War Memorial Medical Centre, Fyfield Road, Ongar, Essex, CM5 0AL.
  • Some GP surgeries also offer a blood test service. For these services, please contact your GP for advice.

Appointments for blood tests should be made online via the Swiftqueue system, rather than by email or telephone. The system ensures that we can maximise the number of tests we can offer to patients.

  • You will be guided to create an account and follow the on-screen instructions to arrange your appointment.
  • Minimal information is required to set up your account and make an appointment.
  • You will be asked to provide an email address (this does not need to be your own for example, it could be a friend, relative or carer who is assisting you), your name, and date of birth.

Booking a blood test appointment at new locations

The Harvey Centre

  • The majority of blood tests that have been booked to take place at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in the Old Therapies Gym after 27 April 2026 will be delivered at The Harvey Centre location. 
  • All patients who have booked an appointment after 27 April 2026 will receive text and email confirmation and reminders about the new location and any important changes.
  • The Harvey Centre location will be listed on Swiftqueue once the new facility opens.

Gibberd Ward, PAH – blood tests for children under the age of one

  • Blood tests for children under one year old will be provided by the paediatric service at The Princess Alexandra Hospital.
  • This clinic will take place on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm.

Radiology Department, PAH – specialist blood tests only
Your consultant or GP will inform you if you need to book into this clinic.

Please book your blood test by contacting the blood clinic appointment line on 01279 827 163 (appointments for this clinic cannot be booked online)

This clinic will take place Monday to Friday between 12pm to 1pm in the Radiology Department at PAH.

For some tests, it is important that the blood sample is collected close to the laboratory so that it can be transported there rapidly or within a temperature-controlled container. 

All appointments should be booked in advance. It is important that you do not arrive without a pre-booked appointment unless your clinician has expressly requested an urgent test and clearly indicated this on the electronic test request they have made.

If your test is urgent, as indicated by your clinician, you will be allocated the next available slot where possible. Please be aware this could be later in the day or a different day during busy times, so all appointments should be booked online in advance to avoid disappointment.
