Care planning

Key to the plans for a new hospital is the focused planning around how care is delivered to our patients. Our clinical leads team have the responsibility to design and develop evidence based, integrated and innovative models of care. These plans will both inform the design of a hospital infrastructure and ensure that the models of care are fit for the future across the following areas:

  • Urgent care
  • Elective care
  • Discharge
  • Diagnostics and cancer
  • Family and women's services

The clinical leads team are already in place and are beginning their integrated approach to the design of these models of care by working with system partners across health and social care to develop care pathways within and outside of the hospital setting, based upon local health needs and predicted population changes and growth.

Together with our health and care system partners, we will ensure the models of care and healthcare spaces challenge the norm, are ready for the future and support our healthcare professionals to deliver high quality patient-centred care.

The members of the clinical leads team are a diverse team of doctors; nurses; allied health professionals; patients and managers, working both at The Princess Alexandra Hospital and across the wider healthcare system. They will maximise this amazing opportunity to push the boundaries of how healthcare is delivered and, importantly, how a new, bespoke hospital and infrastructure can make this happen.
