Palliative Care

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative Care seeks to improve your quality of life when you are facing problems associated with life-limiting illnesses. It aims to prevent and relieve suffering by identifying your need for high level assessment and treatment of pain and other problems which can be physical, emotional, social or spiritual.

What does Palliative Care do?

  • It affirms life and regards dying as a normal process.

  • It will not speed up or slow down death.

  • It combines the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of your care.

  • It offers support to help you live as actively as possible until death.

  • It offers support to help your family cope during a patient's illness and in their bereavement.

  • It uses a team approach to address the needs of patients and their families.
