Dolphin Ward is an acute general paediatric ward looking after children in both the west Essex and Hertfordshire areas.
A majority of children are admitted via our Paediatric Emergency Department. We care for children who have a wide range of medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions. We are a Level 1 Paediatric Oncology Shared care unit working closely with GOSH, UCLH and Addenbrookes.
Please do not visit Dolphin Ward if you have been unwell with any diarrhoea, vomiting or flu like symptoms in the last 72 hours, this is to protect the children on Dolphin Ward from unnecessary contact with infection.
Dolphin Ward is located on the second floor in the main building of PAH, B46.
If you enter the hospital through the main entrance, turn left and walk along the corridor towards the main lifts. Take the lift to the second floor. On exiting the lift, turn left and follow the corridor round to Dolphin Ward.
Number of beds
16 inpatient beds and four ambulatory beds
Visiting times are 2.30pm to 7.30pm for extended family and friends, please do keep to these times to allow the children to get rest whilst they are getting better.
Parents can be with their child at all times. We can only accommodate one parent/carer to stay at night with their child.
Breakfast is served between 7.30am to 8am
Lunch is served between 12pm and 1pm
Dinner is served between 5pm to 6pm
