Domestic team industrial action: public statement

Following our statement last week we are pleased to confirm that the planned industrial action on 6 June (2019) by UNISON and our domestic team colleagues has been cancelled.

We can also share an update on the market testing exercise of our domestic services.

Update:

'The market testing of our domestic services is part of a modernisation programme for all of the non-clinical and support services at PAHT and was to ensure that our domestic services team are able to meet the demands of a busy hospital; meet national cleaning standards consistently and provide good value for money for the taxpayer.

The market testing exercise was not a definite decision to outsource our domestic services or a challenge of our current domestic services colleagues who are valued members of the PAHT team.

We have now concluded the market testing process.

Over the last two months we have been encouraged by the passion and energy shown by our domestic colleagues and their enthusiasm to transform the service they provide. In light of this, we have invited them to join their management team and senior healthcare professionals from across PAHT to develop an in-house modernisation and transformation plan for our domestic services.

We look forward to working with our teams to develop a modernised way to deliver the standards we need to ensure that the demands of a busy hospital are being met and that our teams have the capacity to meet the workload this involves now and into the future.'
