The orthopaedic team provides first class specialist care and treatment to people living in the local area. It is their job to treat deformities, injuries and diseases of the bones, joints and muscles.
The demand on the service is great and we perform a large number of operations on knees, hips, hands, joints, upper limbs, backs and shoulders.
All this specialist surgery is handled by one of seven renowned surgeons. We are privileged to have a number of orthopaedic consultants working for us who have international reputations for their innovative new practices and techniques. We have a dedicated orthopaedic ward, Tye Green, run by Sister Ruth McShane and her team.
We have very rigorous infection control procedures in our wards so please do not be offended if you are asked to give a MRSA swab at your pre-admission assessment.
