Ray Ward

The ward splits itself into two ends and staff work one end on a regular basis to provide continuity of care.

The diversity of the ward means that staff provides varied care for those with many conditions/illnesses.

Patients are here with respiratory, cardiac, gastro and endocrine problems. We also care for those with surgical, orthopaedic or psychiatric problems.

Our set up allows acute care and all staff are trained in basic life support many staff are trained in emergency acute phase nursing; have skills in basic life support, cannulation, blood taking, prep for investigations.

Our nursing staff have experience in meeting the needs for those who will need longer term care. They have the skills to identify, and assess for rehabilitation in the community hospitals.

To act on behalf of the patient to enable the provision of social support at home, or if necessary to residential /nursing home.

The ward has a dedicated physiotherapy, occupational therapy team and access to other multi-disciplinary members i.e. speech and language therapists, dieticians plus nurse specialists in nutrition and cancer care.
