General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The Princess Alexandra Hospital is taking extra steps to ensure that we in all respects comply with the requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When our people handle any of your information as part of their job, it should be done so in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.

Why is this important?

  • It replaced the Data Protection Act 1998 on 25 May 2018.

  • There are new rules for handling information with greater transparency, enhanced rights for people, increased accountability and stronger enforcement of the rules.

This law expands on the existing Data Protection Act 1998 and we already comply with this existing data protection legislation. However, to find out what we have done to comply, then please contact our information governance team by emailing

Thank you to you all at work in these tough times. You are all brilliant trying so save lives and trying to beat this horrible virus. Without you we don’t know where we would be now. Love to you all in these challenging times for our NHS.
